how about some food porn?

Seriously, though.  The food here is amazing!  I haven't had a bad meal yet - well, except for maybe when we stopped for dim sum at a very authentic Chinese restaurant.  We didn't quite realise that their authenticity included such food groups as animal feet and tongues and other such things that probably shouldn't be ingested (especially by me, the vegetarian!).  But on the bright side, the tea was quite good...

Anyway, these photos are from when we had brunch at a little French bakery called La Boulange on Union Street.  We went there again the next day, it was so delicious!

(This is definitely not a mini-post made to disguise the fact that I have a lot of work to do in regards to catching up on my photo edits... no way!)

Cappuccino art!  So cute!

The tea was super yummy - and the tea bags were very interesting, too.

The Hummus open-faced sandwich: organic, fresh-baked bread, piled with hummus (quel surprise!), cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouts, and avocado.  Mmm!  The side of greens was also quite lovely.

My mum had their granola (baked in-house!), piled high with yoghurt, fresh fruit, and honey.  Yum yum yum!

My father's [meat-filled and such that I didn't try and thus don't remember] sandwich was accompanied by a fruit bowl filled with more fresh fruit.  The blueberries were HUGE!

A close-up of my sandwich.  Look how red those tomatoes are!  We never have tomatoes that red in Virginia.  It's quite sad.

None of my family had ever had macaroons of this sort (though we're big fans of the Jewish macaroons, especially because we just had Passover and all its coconutty dessert goodness!) so we tried a few - the Chocolate Hazelnut was by far the best!  It tasted just like Nutella :)

(They also had Passionfruit Mango - how odd!  We didn't try that one, though.)

Now it's [kind of] late here, and I know it's quite late on the East Coast, so I'm going to sign off and such.  I promise I will have more photos edited for tomorrow!  I've really got to figure out that batch-editing function on Photoshop....

  1. I wonder how many views this one is going to get simply for having the words "food porn" in the title... xD
